...the seaside, of course. Had a trip to beautiful, bracing Brighton today. It was a bit chilly for paddling but still lots of fun.
Found these little beauties in a shop in North Laine. They may be making an appearance on a cake near you soon.

Hi Paul and Kerry - we went to Brighton on Saturday and by God BRACING it was!
We always go to the Regency Fish Restaurant on the front which always serves the most beautiful fresh fish and highly recommended
I'm afraid I was made redundant after nearly 10 years from my job at the end of April so am now officially unemployed and probably unemployable!
Am hoping to be reemployed in the same job soon in a round about way but it's complicated and have been adviced that I can go for unfair dismissal - thank God I maintained my T and G (now Unite) membership after leaving the bookshop

Hi Kerry - good news for me as I'm back in the old job tomorrow so will have the same E-mail address but things have been happening with Colette
They are restructuring the shift system due to this new centralised warehouse coming in
She had a meeting on Friday (at the moment she does 3 days a week - 22and a half hours) and all they could offer her was 20 hours per week but 10 to 4 five days a week - this would still be in her beloved art department
She would have nearly 3 hours travelling each day and they've given her a week to decide
Apparently by law if they reduce your hours they have to offer redundancy
27 years she has been there and it will a very emotional day for her if she does leave
Her decision of course and all I can do is to offer my support
She's in 2 minds as she may decide in 6 months that it is too much for her but then she will have lost her redundancy payment
As you know Kerry we're both 61 and wrinklies -she could have taken her state pension last year but she decided to defer it which increases by 10.4% for every year you don't claim
I only have a contract for a year myself by which time I shall be 62 and a half and reckon I shall have had enough by then - unless of course they make me a great offer but that is pipe dreams I'm afraid!
Will keep you informed and good idea to meet up for a drink
Hope your jobs are both OK and that you're both keeping all right!

Hi Peter, Glad things worked out okay with your job. Hope Colette manages to sort out something to suit her too. Can't believe you've revealed Colette's age on the internet! That has been a closely guarded secret at Waterstones for many a year. I'm now rinsing the information from my mind & she'll remain forever 33. ; )
